Rhythmic Gymnastics in Action!

Mrs Smith’s Year 8 class were delighted to welcome SuperStar Sports coaches Sophie and Heather into school today to support their Gymnastics scheme of work as part of their PE lessons.

For many students, this was their first experience of Rhythmic Gymnastics, and they were quickly immersed in learning about the Ball, Hoop and Ribbon disciplines. Under the expert guidance of the visiting coaches, students were introduced to a range of new skills and techniques, before having the opportunity to practise them independently and experiment with their own creative ideas.

The session was full of enthusiasm, focus and enjoyment, with students demonstrating excellent engagement, confidence, and teamwork throughout. The coaches were impressed by how quickly pupils picked up the skills and were keen to challenge themselves — and Mrs Smith also enjoyed getting involved and trying out some of the activities!

Opportunities like this, working with local sports providers, play an important role in enriching our curriculum and giving students access to specialist coaching. They also help us to signpost students to clubs and activities they may wish to take part in outside of school, supporting healthy lifestyles and wider participation in sport.
