It’s the National Year of Reading, and we’re proud to be celebrating the power of reading across our school community.
Reading is at the heart of everything we do. It builds confidence, strengthens communication skills, supports learning across every subject, and opens doors to opportunity both in and beyond the classroom. Developing a love of reading helps young people to think critically, imagine creatively, and engage more deeply with the world around them.
As part of this national celebration, we are also taking part in Read for Good, a fantastic initiative that encourages children and young people to read for pleasure while supporting others through charitable giving. Read for Good helps schools inspire a lifelong love of reading, while also raising vital funds to provide books and storyteller visits for children in hospitals across the UK. It’s a powerful reminder that reading can make a real difference — both for ourselves and for others.
Throughout the year, we’ll be sharing more updates, activities, and celebrations as we continue to champion reading in all its forms — so watch this space! 👀📚
Today, it has been wonderful to see our Year 7 students reading beautifully and working hard on the computers, showing focus, enthusiasm, and a growing confidence in their learning. A brilliant example of reading in action and a great start to our National Year of Reading celebrations.
