NATIONAL CPD PROGRAMME FOR PEThis site hosts all you need to know and do to access training in Southampton for those working in schools in Southampton as teachers or Adults Other than Teachers in PE and School Sport within and beyond the curriculum. To access training free of charge each school needs to have completed
and returned their audit - found in their National PE & School Sport
Professional Development Programme folder to Mrs A Philpott, Director
of PE & Sport, Redbridge Community School. All staff in primary schools are targetted to undertake 2 courses per
year between November 2004 and April 2006. In Secondary schools in Southampton
all staff involved with the delivery of PE & School Sport are targetted
to undertake 1 course per year. All staff could of course undertake more
and this includes AOTTs. The overall aim of the strategy is to enhance the take-up of sporting opportunities by 5-16 year olds; In Southampton we are not excluding those working with children below and above the target age ranges and are working in partnership with many agencies to be able to bring this about. The target being that by 2006, 75% of 5-16 year olds will spend at least 2 hours per week in high quality PE & school sport within and beyond the curriculum. This means that coaches and clubs also have a responsibility to play their part in providing high quality opportunities in their own and educational settings. The Professional Development Programme has been a direct response to the needs for increased levels of training to be available in order for schools and Adults Other Than Teachers to contribute to the increase in activity levels required to meet/exceed the targets - but to do so by providing a high quality experience to those young people. Please select from the links below to connect to further information about the programme in Southampton. |
