Welcome
To Redbridge Community School
Redbridge is a co-educational
11-16 school.
The
school was opened in 1959 and serves the western outskirts
of Southampton.
The
school produces consistently good value added results
at both Key Stage 3 and 4, producing the best value
added result in the city at Key Stage 4 (GCSE) in 2003.
It was decided that the old school buildings were no
longer adequate for the growing roll, and that the school
should be completely rebuilt. The new school buildings
were opened in the spring of 2003, and contain state-of-the-art
facilities for the needs of the new millennium.
These
include a vast computer network, sports hall, gymnasium,
dance studio, library, workshops, all weather pitches,
grass pitches, music studio, drama studio, labs, food
technology rooms, art studios, and a separate community
area (with crèche), as well as the normal classrooms
and communal areas. In 2003 the school was awarded Sports
College status.
