March 2004
Dear
Parent/Carer
2003
A Record Breaking Year
There
can be no doubt that 2003 will be viewed as a year of
outstanding success for Redbridge. Our achievements
during the year have included:
| •
|
Record
breaking GCSE results:
46% of pupils gained 5+ A-C grades. (Redbridge
is now ranked as the number one secondary school
in Southampton for the amount of progress that
pupils make.) |
| |
|
| •
|
The
successful transfer into our brand new state of
the art school with some of the best facilities
in the region. |
| |
|
| • |
The
award of Specialist Sports College status. |
| |
This
award now places us amongst other elite, high performing
schools across the country. |
| |
|
| • |
Recognition
from the School Standards Minister as a “High
value secondary school”. |
| |
(Redbridge
is placed in the top 2% of schools in England for
outstanding pupil progress and achievement.) |
| |
|
| • |
Record
breaking application for places. |
In
2003 there were over 250 applications for the 180 places
available in Year 7. (We are now the most oversubscribed
school in Southampton.)
None
of our achievements would have been possible without
your support and the hard work and effort put in by
the staff. Please accept my appreciation and thanks
for all your co-operation and encouragement.

INSET
Closure
The school will be closed for staff training on Tuesday
27th and Wednesday 28th January 2004.
Uniform
As we enter a new year I would like to remind everyone
of the need to wear the correct school uniform. Our
dress code is clearly printed in every log book.
Please
ensure that, in particular, official school sweatshirts
are worn, not hooded sweat tops.
